Aumentaron un 27% las exportaciones de medicamentos

Las exportaciones de medicamentos superaron los 161 millones de dólares en los primeros tres meses de este año, lo que representa un incremento del 27% respecto del mismo período del año anterior, de acuerdo con cifras oficiales.

Millbrook Scientific Instruments, the designer and manufacturer of scientific instruments based in Blackburn has released a trading update for the year ended 31 March ahead of its full-year results. Total sales in the period rose to £2.87m from £2.5m a year earlier, with second-half sales at £1.6m up from £1.5m. The company said performance and order intake in the second half of the year, when the global economic downturn took hold remained satisfactory.
BioIndustry Association welcomes potential measures to support bioscience companies
The BioIndustry Association welcomed the introduction of a £750m Strategic Investment Fund for emerging technologies, including biotech, which was announced by the Chancellor of the Exchequer in the Budget on 22 April. The fund is designed to ‘promote research and development and harness commercially our world class science base’. This fund could make a significant contribution to supporting and building a successful and sustainable bioscience sector in the UK.
Funding boost benefits small to medium sized companies.
The Technology Strategy Board has made a commitment to reduce the cost to small and medium sized businesses (SME's) of its Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) programme from 1st April for one year. The move has the full support of the other government organisations that are funding Knowledge Transfer Partnerships and will mean that companies will see an 8% fall in the amount that they are required to contribute to individual projects. It is hoped that this incentive will encourage SME's to take part in the KTP programme despite the uncertain financial climate.
